This is a list of alleged hate crimes against black people that turned out to be false.
- Sabrina Belcher fake kidnapping and assault – a mayoral candidate fakes her own kidnapping and beating in a Facebook video in an attempt to pin the attack on an opponent (August 2020, Sumter, South Carolina)
- Macy's worker assaulted by black man – a Macy's worker is assaulted by a black man who lied about the worker saying a racial slur (June 2020, Flint, Michigan)
- 2020 black lynching conspiracy theory – a spate of black men hanging themselves is blamed on a secret cabal of white supremacists (June 2020, nationwide)
- Murder of Jazmine Barnes – a 7-year-old black girl is shot in a drive-by shooting and a white person is suspected, until two black men are found to be the perpetrators (December 2020, Houston, Texas)
- Police assassination of Joshua Brown conspiracy theory – after Joshua Brown, a key witness in the Botham Jean murder was shot to death, social media swirled with conspiracy theories that the police assassinated him (October 2019, Dallas, Texas)
- Jussie Smollett alleged assault – black male actor claims two white men in MAGA hats assaulted him, shouted racial and homophobic slurs, poured bleach on him, and tied noose around his neck (January 2019, Chicago, Illinois)
- White man falsely accused of peeing on 5-year-old black girl – black children falsely claim a white man peed on a 5-year-old black girl and called her nigger, while several other children played nearby (August 2018, Grand Rapids, Michigan)
